Tips for Using Blog Discussions to Advance WIA Reauthorization Issues
Date: August 23, 2010
Article by Jackie Taylor
From July 19 – August 6, the National Coalition for Literacy held a guest blog discussion on Reauthorizing the Workforce Investment Act – what is a priority for you? Even though these discussions are “formally” over, the conversations are continuing. (See, for example, the discussions on NRS reform, technology, the Center, and intensity and duration.)
We have thousands of users who spend time each month on the NCL Advocacy Blog. The WIA Blog articles are a unique, central organizing point around each of the NCL WIA Priorities. I thought I’d share some ways that we can work together to build on these discussions and easily advance each of the NCL Priorities that are important to us, using these WIA articles.
Tips:
- Use any of the blog article links as reference points in online conversations about an NCL WIA reauthorization priority.
- Share new information in the comments section that you have which will help to advance the issue.
- Is the new information (document) not online? Just zap it my way (jackie@jataylor.net) and I’ll send you a URL that you can use to include in your comment.
- Subscribe to the blog article so that you receive an email notice when a new comment is posted.
- Is your priority not among the NCL WIA Priorities? Add it in the Comments section of the article titled What are YOUR Priorities for Reauthorizing the Workforce Investment Act?
To find the WIA Blog Articles:
- Click on the category “Reauthorizing the Workforce Investment Act” to the right of this page. There you will find the priorities listed.
- Click on the title of the priority and it takes you straight to the blog article and ongoing conversations pertaining to it.
To Subscribe to a Blog Article:
- See the “Leave a Comment” box. Underneath it, there is an Email box titled “Subscribe without commenting.”
- Enter your email in the E-mail box.
- Click Subscribe.
And don’t forget, these articles are going to key legislative staff over WIA reauthorization during National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week 2010, September 13-19, 2010. Make sure your priority is adequately represented.
What other tips would you add to the list of tips above?
As always, we look forward to hearing from you ~
