National Coalition for Literacy

During the last several months we have had significant activity for the Coalition.

Internally, we have finalized our new structure and Barb Van Horn and Heidi Silver-Pacuilla have agreed to chair the Internal and External Committees respectively. They will be developing the new operating rules for the committees.  We will also be restructuring the Public Policy Committee and developing new protocols for that committee as well.   We hope to complete all of these activities by Sept.  15^th.

We continue to work actively on our public policy agenda and I have recently written to Cheryl Keenan to request additional meetings concerning the new OVAE leadership initiatives and ongoing input from the Coalition.

Our Award program is moving along very well and special thanks to Heidi for chairing that committee.   In addition, preliminary plans for our next round of Dollar General Advocacy training events is underway.

Finally, we will be reporting on the next round of nominations for our Board and leadership positions shortly.    We look forward to welcoming some new Members on the Board and to new leadership for the Coalition as we move ahead under our new structure.
